1. What are the complications and contraindications for this type of procedure?
(e.g.: what type of problems have patients encountered)

* Undiagnosed lesions
* Recent herpes outbreaks
* Warts
* Active, weeping acne (stages 3-4)
* Active Rosacea
* Unstable diabetes
* Auto-immune system disorders
* Some patients hyperpigment post-op. Lower pressures are used on follow-up treatments
2. How frequently and in what time intervals must treatments be provided?
Optimally, every 7-10 days to allow skin to heal. Treatments should be provided with the patient's realistic outcome in mind. Because it is a cumulative treatment, normally a package of 5 or more is suggested for retainable, tangible results.
3. Can / should this system be used with other skin care treatments? (e.g.: alpha hydroxy peels)
Yes, as long as the prescribed waiting times are observed.
4. Describe the protective attire that must be worn by the provider?
Normally latex gloves and an OSHA approved face mask/dust mask are sufficient.
5. How many passes are recommended for the face?
Normally 2 (not in the same direction) but in a direction that respects lymphatic drainage.
6. What is the average treatment time for the face?
Equipment run time is approximately 15 minutes, while a full procedure, including pre and post treatment protocols ends up to be 30 - 45 minutes plus.

7. Describe the "clean-up" for the patient following the procedure?
Use a make-up brush to remove excess crystal from tissue, then rinse with clean water. Follow post treatment protocols.
8. Describe the "clean-up" for the provider following the procedure?
The equipment should be properly sterilized covering cross contamination points such as tips, etc. Standard sterilization protocol for hands, disposal of gloves into red bag, etc.
9. Describe the hand piece (e.g.: glass, plastic)?
We have both stainless steel and nylon disposable tips in 5mm and 9mm spot sizes that come with the device.
10. Describe the ergonomic structure of the hand piece?
The hand-piece is the same size as a ball-point pen. Highly ergonomic.
11. Does the hand piece use disposable tips?
Yes. (They can be reused if properly sterilized up to 15 treatments.)
12. How many sizes does the hand piece have? Specify sizes.
Two. 5mm and 9mm spots.
13. How is the foot pedal operated (e.g.: on / off, accelerator)?
It is a boost compression accelerator, adding compressed air into the delivery system, increasing the velocity of the crystal, which deepens ablation. F=mv2.
14. Is it necessary to use sterile crystals & why?
Dependent upon depth of exfoliation desired. If the practitioner is planning on going deeper than the epidermal layer, the highest level sterility in all parts of the procedure is recommended.
15. How much does your canister hold?
2.2 lbs. of crystal.
16. Approximately how many facial treatments can be given per canister?
4 - 6.
17. How does your system prevent the canister from clogging?
Clogs are mostly caused by poor particle flow dynamics, so we have designed our system to only have 2 flow points of contact and both are graduated or cone shaped. Also, our aspiration valve bubbles air inside the canister, breaking up any clumps.
18. How do you clear your system when it clogs?
You can depress the footswitch as a purge tool or if it is a difficult clog, use the declogging pin which is provided.
19. How much does your system weigh?
55 lbs. medical unit.
20. Describe the system's maintenance program for routine on-site maintenance by us?
Only required maintenance (outside of regular cleaning/sterilizing) is to run the system with an empty supply jar for 2 - 3 minutes at the end of every day that procedures are done.
21. Describe the system's maintenance program for routine on-site maintenance by your company?
None is required. Your staff easily performs any routine maintenance.
22. What is the life expectancy of your system?
6,000 hour MTBF rating on the vacuum pump (roughly equals 24,000 peels) but it can be replaced.
23. What is your suggested pricing structure for treatments?
Depending on the socioeconomic region, average pricing is between $125.00 - $195.00 per treatment which includes face and neck and comprehensive post treatment protocol.
